Making Up for Lost Time

First and foremost, I need to apologize to my blog and my readers - I am SO immensely sorry that I have neglected you so much for the past 2 months. :( Please find it in your hearts to forgive me. Hopefully after you finish reading my post you will look past my neglection and will forgive me.

While I have been MIA from my blog, I have not stopped doing my nails or taking pictures of the manicures I've been doing. So today I want to share with you just a few different looks I did as well as quite a few new nail polishes I've picked up in the mean time.

For this first mani I wanted to add a little sparkle (of course, who doesn't like sparkle?!). For my middle and ring finger I used Essie's Set in Stones, I've had my eye on this polish for quite some time now and finally decided to get it and I'm sure glad I did. It is gorgeous!! For my remaining fingers I used Essie's Turquoise & Caicos, which is a gorgeous turquoise blue and goes on amazing! Here's the finally result:

My next mani was a polish that I have been on the hunt for everywhere!! I've been wanting a really gorgeous emerald green and the other day Alex and I were at Target when I spotted it. I about screamed with excitement! When I found out it was on sale for only $3 I screamed some more :) Anyways since it's such a gorgeous color I wanted to just leave it alone and not add any nail art or anything to it. Its by Revlon and called Posh, so fitting!

Now the remaining pictures are just some poloshes that I've picked up in the last couple weeks:

Since this post was so pic heavy I'm going to end on that note. I am hoping sometime this week to post another makeup tutorial, this one is going to be about contouring your face, which is my new obsession!

Statement Necklaces & Bold Nails

Tonight's post is about the a big fashion statement right now - statement necklaces! I absolutely love this trend, it's so fun and lets you experiment more with colors. I just recently ordered another one that I'm obsessed with off of Hautelook.com

Jade & gold; purchased on Hautelook.com

Black & gold; purchased at Charming Charlie

Black & Gold bubble necklace; purchased on Hautelook

Has anyone ever been to a Charming Charlie store? We don't have one where I live, but my mom does so any time I go to visit I'm sure to go there. It is an accessory haven! It has everything you could imagine and every color you could image! I could seriously spend an entire day there, it is just an incredible store, plus the prices are pretty reasonable. I just love these necklaces as that something extra you want to add to your outfit. They can really help complete an item and take it to that next level.

On top of some great accessories I have an awesome mani for you today!

For this mani I used China Glaze's Turned Up Turquoise, the formula is what you can exprect from China Glaze, it goes on great and smooth. However, once it dried it was a matte finish, which it didn't say that on the bottle anywhere. I then added Venique's Twinkling Glitter to all of my nails for a little extra punch. I absolutely love how they turned out! What do you think?

Happy New Years Eve!

Happy New Years everyone!!

I hope everyone is having a great and safe New Years and spending it with their loved ones! For tonights manicure I am using China Glaze's Elephant Walk, which I picked up yesterday, along with Glitter All the Way. I picked Glitter All the Way because reminds me of confetti that falls in Times Square.

I also got my Julep Maven box today, in it I received Grace, Madison, and a Hand and Cuticle Stick.

Goodnight and Good bye 2012!!

New Years Eve Nails

So yesterday I finally got my last item of my order from Amazon. It was ten spools of nail ribbon all of which were different colors. This was the item that I was the most excited for and of course it was the last to arrive! I can't wait to use them though! Here's a picture of them:

For today's nails I decided to use a color I have never used before, WHITE! Crazy to think that I've never used it, but I've always steered away from it because I thought that it showed too many imperfections. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the result, the polish went on smooth and didn't show any bubbles or bumps like I thought it would. For my white I used Sally Hansen's White On.

Once White On had dried completely I used Elf's Gold Star, which has large hexagonal glitters as well as some small glitter mixed in. I was going to sponge it on, but then just decided against it and dabbed it on all the tips of my nails. I absolutely love how they turned out! They're fun and perfect for a New Years party.

I also was in need of some nail necessities, such as acetone and cuticle oil, so I went to the beauty supply store and came back with quite the lot.

Acting is Living, Twinkling Glitter, Studded Holiday Surprise, Down the Chimney

DS Reserve, My Boyfriend Scales Walls

Angel Wings, Peace on Earth, Elephant Walk, Glitter All the Way

OPI Cuticle Oil & OPI Nail Envy

I just want to say that I am so excited for the new year to come! This past year has been a very tough one, not only for me, but for so many others in the world. I cannot wait to put it behind me and to see what 2013 has to offer. I hope everyone has a good and safe New Year!

HJCC - Deck the Halls

Today is the third day of the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge, this weeks theme is Deck the Halls. So of course I wanted to put some Christmas decorations on them!

For the nails I used Julep's Sharon, then on my ring finger for the wreath I used a dotting tool and China Glaze's Winter Holly (how appropriate :-D ). Once the wreaths were dry I added a black bow to the wreath, I wanted a red one, but it blended in with the nail color. I was going to stamp holly onto all my other nails, but the stamping plate that I most recently received wouldn't transfer the image. I was so frustrated/upset so I just threw some red and silver glitter on them. Here's how they look:

I will say that you might be seeing a different version of this tomorrow as I'm (again) not happy with the outcome. Lately my nails have been peeling nail polish off as soon as they're dry. So I want to try a different base coat then maybe do a different rendition of Deck the Halls tomorrow if time permits. Check out the other ladies who are participating in the challenge below.

I also just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from me Alex, Kali, and Carly

Happy (LATE) Thanksgiving!

I apologize that I am soooo late on this post, I feel awful and really have been meaning to post something, but unfortunately on Thanksgiving Alex's grandfather got really sick and is in the hospital. Luckily we were able to enjoy some of Thanksgiving with my family down in Turlock, but had to leave around 3ish to head back up to Chico and see his grandpa in the hospital. Since Thursday we have pretty much been there with him. His grandfather is 94 years old and is in amazing health and is an incredible man. About 8 or 9 years ago he had to have heart surgery and they put a pig valve in and its pretty much on its last leg as they (the pig valve) only last about 8 years. They also told us that he is in CHF (chronic heart failure). On a much happier note, he seems to be doing fine and is in high spirits and ready to get home, hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday.

Today I had some time at home and just decided to swatch some green polishes I had recently bought and haven't had a chance to play with. So without further ado onto the nail polish:

From pinky to ring finger - Wet n Wild SaGreena the Teenage Witch, Sally Hansen Olive Branch, Wet n Wild Poison Ivy, China Glaze Winter Holly.
(Picture Taken Outside)

Inside shot
I loved all of these greens especially China Glaze's Winter Holly, it was a complete glitter bomb and didn't need any sort of dark green polish underneath. At first when I was outside taken the pictures it looked like Olive Branch and Poison Ivy were very similar, but then when I got inside and took the picture you could totally see how much it varied. Also the pictures didn't pick up the metallic tones in poison ivy. Maybe if I had put a coat of SV on it would have brought the colors in the polishes out more.

My next mani I did today was something a little more Christmas-y. I did 2 coats of NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost. Once that was dry I took my Kiss striping kit in white and silver glitter and striped all my nails. Here's how it turned out:

The first picture I shot before I put the stripes on as I thought it was such a pretty red with nice little red glitters inside it. By the time I added the stripes I was really tired from a long day at the hospital today that they didn't turn out as well as I had originally planned. I will have to re-do this manicure when I'm not so out of it.

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and laughter!
