A Little Nail Mail for the Polish Hoarders Soul

So for tonight's post I'm posting my nail mail that I received last week and over the weekend. For my first nail mail I ordered as part of Julep's 12 Days of Christmas their Gold Glamor Mystery Clutch as well as Hilary. The mystery clutch cost $29.99 and you received about $200-$300 worth of product, from what they said online. Here's what I got:

Sooo funny side note, as I was writing this post I went to go upload my first image to my post and was like, "Wow, Blogger got a new image uploader", a whole new window popped up and it just looked very weird and was a pain in the butt. Then once the picture finally loaded it was all in code, and I was like crap I don't know coding that well, how could they do that!?!? Then, here comes the big kicker, I realized I was in HTML rather than Compose. Stupid me... Now back to my Mystery Clutch.

Kathleen

Nora - Matte Suede Finish

Hilary, which didn't come in the Mystery Bag

Sharon

Contents: The gorgeous gold sequin bag, which I forgot to take a picture of. Two glitter pots. Sharon. Nora, which is a Matte Suede Finish. Kathleen. Hands and Face Lotion. Lastly Age Defying Hand Brightener.

For our next piece of nail mail I made a late night large order, which I didn't remember most of what I ordered, on Amazon. I haven't received the entire order yet, but here is what I have received:

For the image plates, they don't have a name they just are called Nail Art Stamping Image Plates and I got plates OB28, QA19, KD1 Kitty, & KD12. I also got the wheel with the pearl bow rhinestones which I am totally in L-O-V-E with and cannot wait to use them!

I also had some time today to do a mani so I decided I really really wanted to try out my new Julep polish, Nora, with the Matte Suede Finish. Here's how they look and excuse the short nails please as majority of them have broken! :(

Application of this polish was gread it went on smooth and only needed two coats, could have probably gotten away with one, but I just wanted two for good measure. I was very suprised by how well it went on and how well it dried as it was my first Matte Polish I've used. I do, however, have one small complaint. I painted my nails today in the afternoon and by the time I had gotten back to the gym they were all chipped, some of them pretty badly. I don't know if it's because I didn't use a topcoat, which I wanted to keep the matte finish. I think next time I use this polish I will seal it with a matte finish top coat for extra measure. Thoughts on this polish?

Well I think I have posted plenty of photos for one day and have written plenty so I'm off to bed. Hope you all had a great day today and are getting ready for Christmas!

HJCC - Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let it Snow

Hey readers,

A day late and a dollar short I guess, my sincerest apologies!

So let's just get right to it! For this weeks challenge the them was Let It Snow. I used two coats of Sinful Colors Midnight Blue, then on my ring finger I painted on a coat of Nail Junkie. Once all my nails dried I used Nail Art Stamping Image Plate QA19 and my white stamping polish. On all my other nails I used my doting tool and the white stamping polish and made it look like snow on all my nails.

Here's how it turned out:

I have to say I was so so so excited for this challenge and thought wow this one is going to be super easy! Uh if anything to me I feel like it was a total flop, I'm not 100% thrilled with how they turned out at all. I tried stamping these cute little snowflakes that were on my stamping plates that I most recently got and for the life of me I couldn't get the images to transfer! Any tips or tricks anyone would like to share, I'm lucky if I just get one image to transfer. I get so jealous of all you other ladies who do such gorgeous stamping... I guess I need more practice, I don't know?

I also got quite a bit of nail mail over the weekend and while I was out sick that I will be posting about tomorrow if time permits.

I'd love to hear your thoughts as to how my nails turned out, please feel free to comment!

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!

My Apologies...

For being MIA the past 4 days... I've been incredibly sick with the flu and have had zero motivation to do anything other than get out of bed to eat and shower. I have nothing to post, but just wanted to let everyone know I did not forget about you or my blog. I did get some nail mail on Friday and Saturday, but haven't taken any pictures. I will take them tomorrow and get them posted. Also stay tuned as tomorrow is Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow for the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge! I am so excited for this days challenge and can't wait to do them tomorrow.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and there will be more to come tomorrow!

Sinful Colors' Cinderella

So for tonight's nails I just did a simple nail polish as we are booked out with details until Monday, which means my nails are going to take a beating. :( Maybe tomorrow night I'll try my new gel starter kit; might help protect my real nails a little bit better as the chemicals we work with really damage and dry out my nails/hands. Anyways onto the nails...

For tonight's nails I did Sinful Colors Cinderella, and I am in LOVE with it. It's such a pretty subtle blue, almost periwinkle and has gorgeous little glitter flecks in it that almost make the polish a holo (almost). It was very hard for me to capture the hints of glitter, but I think I got some good shots, take a look:

I am in love with this color and am thinking of using it for Monday's Challenge... thoughts are going around in my head... The application was pretty smooth, it went on great, so it had great coverage. The first coat I did was a little sheer so I did end up doing three coats then a coat of SV. Two coats would have been fine, but I wanted it a touch darker. Overall, love the formula and the color!

Hope everyone had a happy hump day and it's almost the weekend... HOORAY!!

Violet Velvet

So today some more nail mail showed up from my December Julep Maven Box. I received Patti, Barbara, and Julep Nail Therapy, all are pictured below except Nail Therapy as the lid came loose during transit and it leaked everywhere! Very annoying, but I called Julep today and they were very nice and are sending me a new bottle! YAY!

Barbara

Patti
They are both gorgeous polishes and I am so excited to try out Patti, hopefully for tomorrow's post. For tonight's I have a cute little mani that I did some stamping with, my first post of stamping, the only reason I haven't posted my stamping sooner is because they never turned out, but tonight I figured out the method and am so excited to share my nails with you! :)

First I started with ELF's Violet Velvet as my base color, seen below:

Then I stamped with stamping plate M59 on both my middle fingers. Next I used my dotting tool and with the same white polish I stamped with I used for the dots on the rest of my fingers.

I was pretty impressed with my stamping skills for once, like they ACTUALLY turned out, the image ACTUALLY transferred onto my nail! LOL. I thought it was a nice change from the Christmas nails and also it was really girly, who doesn't like polka dots and bows!?!

Let me know what you think, I love input!

A Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree!

It's finally here! My first challenge and I couldn't be more excited!

Today's theme is Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and I really had a hard time trying to figure out what to do, besides the obvious - a Christmas Tree... So here's what I came up with:

For my middle finger I used NYC's Broadway Burgundy Frost its a gorgeous red with small flecks of red glitter. For all my other fingers I used Wet n Wild's SaGreena the Teenage Witch, then on my ring finger I used Julep's Vivien to add some glitter and sparkle. I then took my green rhinestones I ordered on MASH Nails and used them to make a Christmas Tree and took a black stone and used that as the stump. On my pinky and pointer fingers I used Spoiled's Shuffle the Deck and took red flecks of glitter and placed them to make musical notes. I thought my nails turned out pretty cute and can't wait for next Monday's challenge, here is the schedule:

Swatching Sunday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a relaxing Sunday! I spent the majority of the day swatching all my new nail polishes I have gotten lately and also did my nails for my first nail challenge! The challenge is called A Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge and Sam over at Polished Art is hosting it! I am so excited!

Anyways onto some of my many swatches I did today. The first beauty is one I picked up last night after Alex and I went to a movie - we saw Twilight and it was amazing!

Covergirl Constant Caribbean

This polish is amazing, from the color to the formula, it is perfection actually! I found it hidden on some random aisle and swooped it right up! I don't have any other polishes like it and the fact that it is such a great formula and has great coverage is an added bonus.

I also picked up two Spoiled nail polishes as they were having a sale, and well I thought they were pretty...

Checkin Into Rehab

Club Rat

I loved both of these, they went on very nicely and Club Rat was a pleasant surprise. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did once I put it on. It was a really pretty fuchsia pink and had pretty little flecks of glitter in it. Checkin into Rehab was pretty much the same formula, including the little flecks of glitter, except that it just had a purple base.

There will be plenty more swatches to come later this week as I bought a kit with 18 different nail polishes. I plan to swatch six a day this week. Also stay tuned for tomorrow's post as I take part in my first challenge! I am so excited and I love my rendition and cannot wait to see the other girls post... since it's currently 12:05 AM am I allowed to post it yet!?

I will impatiently wait until tomorrow....
